A Heart Soliloquy

In my dreams you appear
as a lover to reach
across the span of infinity
and touch me.

My heart keeps our love in secret
and one day when my poems are finished
I will give over my body
like a willow.

I will lie down in the fire,
wrapped in linen -
let them burn me to ash
crack open my skull;
let the wind carry my love for you
across the waters
all around the world
until even the stars hear of it
and the heavens know our story
before it fades.

It's no matter that our bodies have to die
the same as all others
and the lights go quiet in the night
because our love
will be spread by distant galaxies
until we are born again
to be found in each others arms
as parched flowers
someone planted in the soil
of a distant
but hopeful planet.

Precious Love

Only a flower can know another flower
without translation
by the wind chimes and wings
of those who come to love.

Some have spoken of your beauty
whispered of charm
and fallen into tears at the fragrance
of your true name
that comes from a pure place
within the heart of this blossom

but I know the sweetness of your lips;
the taste of your tongue.

- zayra yves

A day without the sun

and do you feel the absence
of heat

suddenly do you think to yourself
how if you had known
we only had a few hours of sunlight
to share our love
you might have gone all the way

like a hot star
who dances with no clothes

- zayra yves

A Sea Flower of Light

On the edge of winter
you have dropped from heaven
among the most magnificent of stars
to fall into the center

just in time
to mend the sky, sea and shore
of my broken heart.

- zayra yves

Who gathers the love

to think it will be trivial
as if to imagine
it to be something so small
it doesn't even fit
where a private moment
stops still

almost as if our skin did not move
and our lips did not touch

- zayra yves
